those presented
3. Transfer of officers. Tom Chandler was applauded for his work as
our charter president. Tom offered his
services to continue to help the club maintain our mail list and any other
technical assistance we may need. At
this point Tom turned the meeting over to our 2006 club President, Mike Read
4. Last call for the jersey
order. Several more jerseys were
ordered and we should have close to the 15 pieces required minimum. The club will buy jerseys for future sales
to make up any difference to meet the minimum.
5. After lengthy discussions about how we can better serve
the diverse interests and abilities of the members of our club on club
sanctioned rides we came up with the following plans:
- All
Tuesday and Thursday evening rides will have three group leaders, one
leader for each of three levels of abilities and interests of riders.
- The
group leaders will appoint a group sweep rider. The sweep will vary from week to
week so that not one person will have the same responsibility every
week. The sweep will be
responsible for the safe return to the start of all riders in the group,
particularly the riders that may be riding over their ability.
- Every
active member of the club should make and effort to host/lead a weekends
ride. We encourage the ride leader
to organize a sag wagon for any of the long (60 mile or more) rides. By having a sag available, riders that
are uncertain of their capabilities can join for the rides and not worry
about being left on the road or a burden to the other riders.
6. Ride level definitions:
- A An
A rider should be comfortable riding in a tight group pace line at a
near race pace of 21 mph for 30 or more miles.
- B A

strenuous pace of 18 mph for 30 or more miles.

As with any group all riders are expected to ride safely and communicate
