Mt Shasta Pedali Meeting Minutes January 7, 2009

Roll Call: Board Members : Ted Palfini, Bonnie Eddy, Kristi Green, Pete Eddy. Members at large: Andy Beem, Brad Dorkin, Linda Schnabel, Bob Schnabel, Phil Stedman, Bryan Schieber, Mike Rupp and Mike ?-a guest

Treasurers Report:

• Before any of the following expenditures the Pedali checkbook is at about $2300.
• USA Cycling Membership: The board approved membership in this organization to facilitate their insurance program. Motion was made by Dorkin second by Green to approve payment of $150.
• HRH Insurance: The board also approved payment to HRH Insurance of Amarillo Texas for our club liability insurance $125.

State of the Mt Shasta Pedali Club discussion:

A lengthy discussion about the lack of focus of the club during the last season the general consensus was that there is certainly an interest in reorganizing the club. The areas that the group identified as the areas that would most positively affect the club are: a different structure for the Tuesday evening rides; completion of the ‘Share the Road’ sign project; and a marketing strategy.

Tuesday Evening Rides: Bob Schnabel made a recommendation that was well received by all

• The former A, B, and C classifications will be eliminated. Instead the ride leader will identify two or three ride variations of the same basic route. Each ride will be different in length so that the faster riders will naturally take the longer route and the slower riders will take the shorter route. This will facilitate each of rides finishing at about the same time and possibly overlapping each other.

• Bob Schnabel, the newly elected ride director will appoint a ride leader on a monthly basis. The ride leader will have the responsibility to develop a ride plan in advance of his/her tenure as leader. The leader will email the plan to Pete for posting on the Pedali Web site.

Share the Road sign project: Pete reported that he has been in touch with the county and they are interested in hearing more about our proposal. Ted volunteered with the aid of Bryan Schieber to get more location information for the county. He will then take the proposal back to Mr. Waite at the county for further review.

Marketing Strategy: Mike Hupp volunteered to organize a very simple brochure that let’s people know about our web site and our club. The idea is to have these brochure’s available for tourists at places like Mt Shasta Chamber of Commerce and The Fifth Season. Andy Beem volunteered to help marketing the club through notices in the local paper-‘What’s Happening’ section.
