Mount Shasta Pedali Meeting

April 20, 2011

Strings Restaurant, Mount Shasta

Meeting began at 7:05 PM. Approximately 18 to 20 people in attendance

Ted Palfini, President opened the meeting and presented the agenda:

1.       Define purpose of the club. Is its primary focus social, riding, or fund raising? Or a combination of two or three of these?

2.       Review of last year’s activities:

-          Sporadic attendance at Tuesday rides and almost no Thursday evening rides

-          A couple of weekend rides in the immediate area that were moderately well attended

-          Successful Hill Climb event that raised funds (thanks Mario!)

-          Working a rest stop for Summit Century which secured a $2000 donation from Mountain Wheelers

-          Near completion of “Share the Road” sign project coordinated by Mario Marchi.

3.       Discussed need for website maintenance, who could do it and how it could be used. Pete Eddy offered to help with the website maintenance. Joe Blanchard offered to develop ride route maps that could be posted on the site. Eli Jones offered to contact Chet Collins to figure out how to access the existing Facebook account for the bike club so that it can be linked to the website and used as a tool to communicate with club members as well as any other interested riders when announcing weekly rides, weekend rides, bikes and parts for trade or sale, ride sharing, or anything else of interest.

4.       It was decided to start Tuesday rides this coming Tuesday 4/26, and begin the rides by the Fifth Season.

5.       Ted asked for input on ideas for various weekend rides and mentioned ones attended in the past such as Scoot Valley/Etna Brewery, Three Rivers, Pilgrim Creek, Klamath Refuge, and Shasta Valley.

6.       The idea of forming a closer relationship with Mountain Wheelers was discussed.

7.       Ted mentioned a potential ride May 14 of approximately 25 or 30 miles. It will be a fundraiser in support of Paul Engstrom, and his climb of Mt. Shasta this year, supporting Breast Cancer Research. Entry fee is expected to be $25.
