Mount Shasta Pedali Meeting

Meeting began at 7:07 PM with a call to order.

Those in attendance: Patti Araas, Dave Araas, Michael Rode, Eli Jones, Leo Escarcega, Jill Phillips, Bill Robberson, Kristi Green, Will McCleary, Ken Kellogg

Eli Jones, President opened the meeting and presented the agenda:

1. April Gray from Rails to Trails spoke on the proposed project to purchase the McCloud River Railway and turn it into a trail system. The trail runs from McCloud to Burney and includes about 80 miles of potential trail including spur lines. Grades do not exceed 3%. They are very close to procuring a purchase agreement and will then begin fund raising. They will be looking for volunteers to populate a planning team to help decide on the type of trail to develop, design of the trail and associated structures, fundraising, etc. There will be sub-committees for the various functions.

2. The Hill Climb was discussed. All permits are ready to go. The need for people at the registration and at the top was discussed and members confirmed their participation.

3. The staffing of the rest stop that Pedali manages for the Summit Century was discussed. It appears that it also will be fully staffed. It is being organized by Ted Palfini and Jill Phillips.

4. The next time trial is Wednesday evening on August 17. Show up at 5:30 PM. Trials start at 5:50 PM. The course runs from the Siskiyou Lake Trail at the bottom of Castle Lake Road and runs out on W.A. Barr Road to “First Bridge”. It is about 5.2 miles.

5. Club rides continue to be successful and well attended.

6. Next meeting is scheduled for September 07, 2011 at 7:00 PM – Wayside (outside on deck)
