La Vuelta de los Tres Rios |
September 3, 2005 |
La Vuelta de los Tres Rios was the perfect ride to usher in
what may become an earlier than usual fall in the State of Jefferson. We began
with a very leisure pace of Forest Mountain Pass despite the great fitness
that everyone seems to have by this time of year. Arm and leg warmers were
worn for the majority of the ride which was very welcomed after the warmer
temperatures this summer. The entire ride Pete, Mike Reed, Mike Paula, Sabrina
and Chrissy and I were commenting on how this was PERFECT temps for this beautiful
ride. And despite the rising gas prices, the drivers we passed were very courteous
and gave us plenty of room on both Hwy 3 and Hwy 96 which can be the more
stressful stretches of this ride. With what seemed like a tail wind the entire
ride, we were all surprised to see our lunch break arrive so quickly. And
to our delight we were greeted by Bonnie’s posse on Quigleys new deck.
After sandwiches, fruit, energy drinks and much more, we rode on the wheel
of Mike Paula’s abundant energy from his Red Bull and motored on to
the Shasta River when we realized that we were still in the heat of summer
but fortunately those hot winds were at our back which made for a great end
to this great ride. How lucky are we to be living in such beautiful country?!
Thanks everyone,
David Marchi
